In celebration of Scottish Food & Drink fortnight (2-16 September 2023), we would like to shine the spotlight on some of our fabulous local producers, whose products you can find on our shop shelves. We hope that you like them as much as we do!
Why not tickle your tastebuds with our Biggar Flavour oatcakes and crackers, supplied by these award-winning bakers just down the road in Biggar, we stock many flavours. Perfect with a chunk of your favourite cheese or as a side to your soup!
For your baking needs, look no further than Mungoswells Flour, which is grown, harvested and milled in the heart of East Lothian. We supply a wide range of their organic and non-organic flours, including plain, self-raising, spelt, strong bread
flour, strong brown bread flour and strong wholemeal bread flour. The wholemeal flour truly has nothing put in or taken out. Many delicious things can be made from these quality flours – all types of bread, pizzas, cakes and scones.
Our meat comes from a variety of local suppliers, including Tweed Valley Venison, based in Peebles. We stock venison burgers, mince, sausages, fresh game soups and two of their best-selling products, Scotch eggs and mini pies. Perfect for a snack lunch but you’d better be quick as they sell out fast! Our bacon comes from Puddledub in Kircaldy – a popular and quality product from homegrown, hand reared pigs. Going Native in Hawick supplies us with superb artisanal sausages with nothing added - flavours include traditional pork, pork & leek, pork & apricot, and beef and tomato. A recent addition to our meat offering is Gilliespie’s, a family butcher’s based in West Linton. Try their delicious bacon, cured on site and full of flavour.
All our fruit and veg is organic and comes from local farms in East Lothian, including Tom Elders, East Coast Organics and Phantassie. This quality produce is delivered 3 times a week to ensure maximum freshness.
