Scotland Loves Local

This week sees the start of Scotland Loves Local week, the campaign putting local businesses at the heart of a stronger, greener, fairer Scotland. By encouraging people to Choose Local, we can create better places to live, work and visit. By loving local, the campaign aims to highlight our local businesses, encouraging environmental sustainability, responding to the cost of living crisis and building stronger communities.

Penicuik Storehouse is all about the local community. We are your local hub – owned by members of the local community, run by volunteers from the local community and offering members of the local community a place to meet and connect.

We host a Community Meal every Wednesday from 12.30-2pm, which is free of charge, with the option to donate payment.

We also operate a Pay it Forward scheme, where customers have the option of a hot bowl of fresh soup, a bowl of porridge or a hot drink.

We have a dedicated community space where local groups can meet (for regular groups of 6 or more, please enquire at hello@penicuikstorehouse.org)

We also provide a space for local makers to sell their handmade wares. Everything from pottery, candles, cards, jewellery and more.

Supporting our Ethos – Good for Food, Good for People, Good for the Planet - our shop stocks a wide range of local, ethical, sustainable and environmentally friendly products. Our mission is to reduce plastic use and support zero waste, we have a refillery offering a range of wet and dried goods – everything from laundry liquid and shower gel to porridge oats, pasta and healthy sweet treats.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, and helping to give something back to your local community, please contact us on hello@penicuikstorehouse.org.
