As a social enterprise we have set ourselves the mission to bring people together and make our community more resilient. In our shop we stock fresh produce, groceries, household products and toiletries that are local, environmentally friendly, organic, or fair trade to help enable people to live a healthier and more sustainable life.
However, we are much more than just a shop: We’ve received funding for an exciting climate change project, we are building a training kitchen, and we are developing an indoor market hall and a café, as well as spaces for workshops and events. We are proud to work together with a variety of other community projects and charities.
WHAT WE STOCK IN THE SHOP
Penicuik Storehouse is proud to stock products from a range of local farms, artisans and producers.
Below is just a small sample of the small scale Scottish producers that we work with. Visit us in store to see what else is on the shelves.
WEE ISLE DAIRY
Our milk comes from the Isle of Gigha - more precisely Tarbert farm, a family run business with 60 cows.
LOCALLY SOURCED MEAT
Our meat comes from producers who work with animal welfare and the environment in mind.
LOCALLY SOURCED EGGS
We get our great range of hen and duck eggs from a variety of local free range suppliers.
FRESH FRUIT & VEG
Our wide selection of organic fresh fruit and vegetables is a constant favourite among our customers.
FLOUR
We feature a wide range of flour, including a variety of both organic and non-organic bread flours.
CAFÉ
We use fairtrade coffee to make a range of luxurious and sustainable coffees and other hot drinks to take away.
